Ibrahimovic to Chelsea, Lucas to Manchester United, Sirigu to Manchester City, Digne to Liverpool and Silva to Arsenal?
France’s professional football clubs have decided they will not play any football on the last weekend of November in protest at President Hollande’s new 75 percent tax for high earners! In a recent poll, all the French clubs voted in unison to refuse to play any matches from November 29th to December 2nd.
Lille president is understandably shook by the news and reiterated that it’s not the players that will suffer but will be the club, adding we’re already losing 60 million a year and this would add 44 million euros more and claimed ‘football is in danger’
The French public have been less than sympathetic towards the footballer’s worries with 4 out of 5 people asked on the matter saying they should ‘’shut up and pay’’ which is easy when it’s not your money, I guess.
The news would have undoubtedly put Premier League clubs on high alert as PSG in particularly could have players restless about the situation and look to move abroad.
I look at 5 PSG players that could move, and where when the tax problem hits France:
Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Chelsea
The Swedish striker needs little introduction to anyone and especially to Jose Mourinho. The big striker has made himself one of the few household names in houses across the world, and would have the pick of any club in the world if the price was right.
The striker’s admiration for the current Chelsea boss puts them as clear front-runners after he claimed ‘’I’d die for Jose Mourinho’’ and ‘’Mourinho made me a lion’’
Lucas Moura to Manchester United
United could finally get their long-term target if the French tax takes place, after reportedly being keen on Lucas since he first stepped foot on to a football pitch.
Inevitably when the money men came knocking there was only one move for the Brazilian but there is no doubt United would like a second chance of getting their man.
Salvatore Sirigu to Manchester City
With Joe Hart’s critics getting stronger and stronger and manager Manuel Pellegrini reluctant to back their long-term number one then it wouldn't be unreasonable that if available the Chilean would move for the highly-rated Italian keeper Sirigu.
Lucas Digne to Liverpool
One of the most highly rated young players in the game currently the 20-year-old left back was signed by PSG in the summer for €15 million. The Merseyside club are reportedly long-term admirers of the French under-21 international and he could be one that looks to move on to enhance his playing chances and keep away from a ridiculous tax bracket.
Thiago Silva to Arsenal
Arsenal have made a significant bid to increase their title chances in the past few months, aiming to sign players like Suarez, Higuain and finally bagging Mesut Ozil. Arsenal have been dismissed for their title ambitions because of their ‘leaky’ defence in the past and if Thiago Silva was to become available then there isn't many better people that Arsenal could sign.
