Match to be played on Saturday 2nd November 2013 at 15:00. Venue: Boleyn Ground, London.
Striker Modibo Maiga is set to take the place of the injured Ricardo Vaz Te for West Ham when they host Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.
Vaz Te dislocated his shoulder in the 0-0 draw at Swansea last Sunday and is set for three months out. That may put an end to manager Sam Allardyce’s 4-6-0 formation that’s been a key part of their tactics in recent weeks.
Maiga partnered the returning Carlton Cole upfront in the 2-0 cup win at Burnley on Tuesday night, but with Allardyce stating that Cole isn’t ready for a Premier League start, the Mali international is expected to keep his place but in a lone striker role.
Midfielders Matt Taylor and Jack Collison scored penalties late on at Turf Moor but the former misses out through injury and the Welsh international, who has just returned from a loan spell at Bournemouth, should remain on the bench.
The only other possible change from the draw at the Liberty Stadium last weekend could see James Tomkins miss out through injury. Allardyce will be hoping that he pulls through though, given the lack of centre-half cover with James Collins still missing.
If he is injured, Joey O’Brien could come in at right-back with Guy Demel partnering rumoured Arsenal target Winston Reid in the centre.
Predicted West Ham team: Jaaskelainen, Demel, Tomkins, Reid, Rat, Downing, Noble, Nolan, Diame, Morrison, Maiga
