Swansea manager Michael Laudrup will have most of his squad to choose from as his side take on Cardiff this weekend
The first ever Premier League meeting between Cardiff and Swansea takes place on Sunday afternoon, and Swans manager Michael Laudrup will be hoping a week's rest will re-energise his players for the test.
Laudrup's side have been juggling their Europa League commitments alongside their Premier League campaign, though last week's 0-0 draw with West Ham followed on from Thursday's disappointing 1-1 scoreline as Kuban Krasnodar travelled to South Wales.
Few changes are expected from the team that were held to a stalemate against the Hammers, though striker Wilfried Bony could return up front, replacing Alvaro Vazquez in the process. The form of midfielder Jonathan de Guzman may keep the Ivorian out though, with a three man midfield likely as the Swans travel to their fierce rivals.
Jonjo Shelvey missed the game against West Ham with a hamstring injury, and manager Laudrup is hopeful that the former Liverpool man will recover in time to face Malky Mackay's side. If he does make it, Shelvey should take his place alongside Leon Britton in the heart of the Swansea midfield, with Pablo Hernandez will battle with Wayne Routledge for a place on the left wing.
Full back Ben Davies remains on the sidelines with an ankle injury, and is Swansea's only confirmed absentee for the game, with Neil Taylor set to stand in again.
Predicted Swansea City line-up: Vorm; Rangel, Chico, Williams, Taylor; Britton, Shelvey, De Guzman; Dyer, Michu, Routledege
