News, views and rumours relating to Manchester United in the past 24 hours.
Manchester United and England legend David Beckham’s son Brooklyn has begun training with United. The 14-year-old could follow in his father’s footsteps after joining the academy players at the clubs’ Carrington training ground yesterday.
Meanwhile, vice-captain Patrice Evra has ‘challenged’ the team to win 10 games in a row in their bid to reclaim the Premier League title after a difficult start to the season under new boss David Moyes.
"We [do] want to win two or three games in a row but it is when we win 10 games in a row that I will say Manchester United are back in business. At the moment, we're not," explained the Frenchman.
Manchester United take on Fulham away at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
In team news, Michael Carrick is a doubt for the clash after David Moyes explained the England midfielder is struggling with a calf problem.
"Michael's got a bit of a problem with his calf and Achilles," Moyes said.
Forward Danny Welbeck has been ruled out but is expected to be back next week.
However Robin van Persie, Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand are all fit and available to take part this weekend against the Cottagers.
Moyes also insisted midfielder Darren Fletcher will not be ‘rushed’ back following his comeback following his bowel condition and subsequent surgery.
“His training has been coming along, he's looking much better in himself and is looking stronger every day. But we won't rush him. We don't want any setbacks with him coming back so we'll take our time but it's great to see him back playing,” said the Scot.
David Moyes is happy with striker Javier Hernandez’ progress following his brace in Tuesday’s 4-0 thrashing of Norwich in the League Cup.
"I'm really pleased for Chicha," he said. "It's been a slow start for him as he had a difficult summer, coming backwards and forwards to Mexico with all the games they had to play.
"But he's started to do what he's done over the years: score goals. He came off the bench to score the winner [against Stoke] and scored in midweek, so long may that continue."
In transfer news, The Mirror claims that United ‘target’ Ilkay Gundogan is ‘headed’ to Barcelona.
