Inter have reportedly turned their attention to the Premier League in a bid to boost their struggling squad and are considering bids for Pablo Daniel Osvaldo and Leighton Baines.
It has been a tough start to the season for the Nerazzurri whose Scudetto hopes already look slim after just 10 weeks.
The club's new majority owner Indonesian investor Erick Thohir is expected to pump money into the club in the winter transfer window in a bid to steady the ship and reports in Italy suggest that the targets may be plying their trade in England.
According to Goal.com Italy, Mazzarri has asked Thohir to buy Dani Osvaldo from Southampton - a player he attempted unsuccessfully to bring to Napoli as a replacement for Edison Cavani.
With Diego Milito injured, Inter have looked toothless in attack and Mazzarri has admitted the need for a goal getter.
Osvaldo has struggled to settle in England since his £12.8m summer move from Roma and reports suggest he is open to the move if the terms are right.
Inter are also said to be looking into the possibility of a bid for Everton left-back Leighton Baines to fill what has been a problem position.
Caught Offside's suggestion that Inter could table a £20m bid to outmuscle Manchester United has circulated across the Italian press and raised eyebrows in the peninsula.
