The day many Manchester United fans had hoped for may be around the corner. They might have a Beckham on their books once again.
Unfortunately for those hoping they would once again see club legend and national icon David Beckham in the red of the Old Trafford club, it is actually another generation of 'Becks' rumoured to be signing on with the club. 14-year-old Brooklyn Beckham, eldest of the Beckham boys and fresh from training with both QPR and Chelsea in recent weeks, is rumoured to be on trial at the club where is father established his legacy, according to the Metro.
After visiting the club's training ground on Thursday, where his former England captain dad dropped him into the care of former teammates Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes, young Brooklyn began a period of training sessions which may one day lead to a place at the same academy Beckham senior attended, and, if United fans can dare to dream, another Beckham trotting out onto the pitch at Old Trafford.
Manager David Moyes was quick to play down any focus or pressure on the young trainee in Friday's prematch news conference, refusing to comment any more than saying, "you don't ask me about any other young players so you wouldn't expect to answer that, would you?"
Rumours of Romeo and Cruz Beckham angling for a contract at Real Madrid are, as of yet, unproven.
