OK … who did it? Own up now so I can personally send you a medal … who put Nicklas Bendtner up for sale on Gumtree?
For our American readers, Gumtree is essentially the UK version of Craigslist - an online database similar to the classifieds you would find in the local paper.
On Gumtree you really can buy anything. From lawnmowers, apartments, bikes to prams - it is a variable feast of purchasable delights.
But to my knowledge, this has to be the first time an underperforming Danish striker was put up on the site (Gumtree was not around when John Dahl Tomasson played for Newcastle United).
After his double against Italy for his national side earlier in the month, many felt that he was ready to push on a bit, stamp his authority on the Arsenal first-team.
However, even the press in his homeland admitted that his display against Chelsea in the League Cup was ‘embarrassing’.
So there is no wonder a disgruntled fan has put Nicklas Bendtner up for sale under Miscellaneous Goods.
Here is the message accompanying the For Sale ad….
‘Unfortunately the time has come that we must have a shake-up at Arsenal FC and therefore we're selling some of our players.
First up is Nicklas Bendtner, who's pretty useless in all honesty but he would make a great ornament (or statue).
We're looking for £3.50 but offers will be considered.’
£3.50, come on be ambitious … surely you could get a fiver for the man - the hair alone is worth an extra £1.50!
