French newspaper L’Equipe has named four Premier League players in its list of ten up and coming European stars.
The daily led with an article named 10 stars of tomorrow on its front cover on Thursday, with four Premier League players amongst the talented contingent.
Januzaj is a natural addition given his rise to prominence so far this term. The 18-year-old has broke into, and kept, a place in the reigning champions of England’s side – an admirable feat.
Nastasic had a solid first season in England last term, and quickly became Vincent Kompany’s central defensive partner in the Etihad Stadium outfit’s starting XI. The Serb will look to solidify a constant place in the team this season under new manager Manuel Pellegrini.
Schurrle moved to Stamford Bridge from Bayer Leverkusen over the summer, and has impressed for the Blues so far this term. The Germany international netted one of the goals in Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over City last weekend.
Finally, Courtois has been on the west London club’s books for three years, but is spending his third consecutive season on loan in Spain with Atletico Madrid. Adjudged to be the long-term successor to Petr Cech, the giant goalkeeper has also cemented the number one jersey for Belgium.
Others to make L’Equipe’s list included Spain midfielder Koke, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United of late. Juevntus midfielder Paul Pogba and Real Madrid’s Rafael Varane and Isco are also included.
Schalke wonderkid Julian Draxler and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Veratti complete the list.
The lack of English players is almost inevitable, but the French newspaper also left out the likes of Neymar and Mario Gotze.
The complete list is as follows:
Koke (Atletico Madrid), Paul Pogba (Juventus), Isco (Real Madrid), Adnan Januzaj (Manchester United), Thibaut Courtois (Chelsea & Atletico Madrid), Julian Draxler (Schalke), Raphael Varane (Real Madrid), Matija Nastasic (Man City), Marco Verratti (PSG) & Andre Schurrle (Chelsea).
