A round up of the latest Liverpool news from the past 24 hours.
Derby County chief executive Sam Rush says there is no deal in place for Will Hughes to move to Liverpool this winter. Hughes could be the subject of a £15 million offer from Liverpool this January, with Tottenham also reportedly interested in the teenager.
Left-back Aly Cissokho says Liverpool were tracking him for a long time before they managed to complete a loan deal for him over the summer. The defender has revealed that Liverpool had been watching him at Valencia since the start of the year.
Staying with Valencia, the Spanish side are reportedly keen on trying to sign Liverpool forward Iago Aspas on loan this winter. Aspas has failed to have a big impact on the Liverpool first team after arriving from Celta Vigo over the summer.
“Liverpool are a big threat at the moment because they have a strong squad and their strikers Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge are scoring goals at will,” said Toure.
Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen says he is targeting a recall into the first team at Anfield. Allen has missed the majority of this season so far with injury.
“It's a challenge you have to relish as a professional footballer. There's always competition and there's always someone out for the same spot as you. It's been a great start to the season and we're playing really well,” he told the club’s website.
Allen has also stressed that Liverpool are looking to stay at the top end of the Premier League for most of the season. Several have questioned the side’s ability to do just that after a great start to the campaign.
Former Liverpool player Mark Lawrenson has suggested that Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez are the best attacking partnership in Europe. The pair have bagged 14 Premier League goals between them so far this season.
“Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge aren’t just the best forward partnership in the Premier League. They are arguably the most lethal attacking duo in Europe. I’m confident in saying that because there aren’t too many leading teams who still play with two up front,” wrote Lawrenson in the Liverpool Daily Post.
Sturridge has said he’s not surprised that his partnership with Suarez has been so successful this season. The forward says he feels he has a telepathic connection with the Uruguayan superstar.
Brendan Rodgers has backed young Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom to improve during his loan spell with Derby County. Wisdom made his debut for Derby in last weekend’s draw against Birmingham City.
“The plan was to get him out in the summer but I couldn't because of the nature of the injuries we had, so we had keep him around - Steve McClaren is a good manager who has worked at the top level and I'm sure Andre will benefit from his time there,” said Rodgers.
