Xabi Alonso has reiterated the differing styles between the Spanish and English top divisions, as Gareth Bale returns from injury.
Xabi Alonso has reminded fans of the difference between La Liga and the Premier League, claiming that Gareth Bale needs time to adapt. Despite suffering a spate of niggling injuries, the former Tottenham Hotspur player netted twice for Real Madrid last night as they beat Sevilla 7-3 at Santiago Bernabeu.
But the ex-Liverpool midfielder has insisted that we are yet to see the best out of the Wales international: 'He needs a period of adjustment to La Liga because it is very different to the Premier League,' he told reporters.
'We also need time to get used to him and vice-versa. His quality can be seen and when he settles with the team he will improve more.'
The Spain international made his first appearance of the season on Wednesday, coming on for a brief cameo in the second half after recovering from groin surgery.
'I am grateful for the affection and respect from the crowd. I'm very happy. I have no problems and I hope to slowly get there to be able to help the team.
“I feel like the team is taking shape but there are still things to polish. By reinforcing what we do well and correcting what we can do better we hope to go as far as we want to.'
