Who will make the NFL playoffs? These next match-ups will tell

Peyton Manning

Broncos vs. Patriots in week 12: The best quarterbacks of the modern era going head to head in one of the most anticipated game of the year.

We are half way through with the NFL regular season and there are already some frontrunners and some runaway favourites but nothing is settled yet.

At this point I would say the first teams of the AFC divisions are looking pretty good. That are the Patriots, the Bengals both at 6-2, Colts at 5-2 and the unbeaten Chiefs. The Broncos, who are only second place with 7-1, might be considered a contender too.

The NFC looks a little bit different. In the East division there are only the Cowboys with a non losing record and I would pick no one to make a deep run into the playoffs.

But 49ers at 6-2, Seahawks at 7-1, Saints with a 6-1 record and Packers and Lions with both 5 wins could be playoff contenders.

Obviously only time will tell who will make the playoffs and some next week's match-ups should tell who is real and who is not.

This week will start with a good Thursday night game between the Bengals and the Dolphins. The Miami side won the last two match ups against Cincinnati but lost four in a row despite winning their first three match-ups this season. A crucial game for both teams.

Bears vs. Packers, the oldest rivalry in football is always exciting, despite some shaky performance by the Bears, this one could decide who holds the initiative for the closing stages of the NFC North.

Week 10 starts off with maybe the second last test for the Bengals this season, they will face the Colts late in December, but that might be it. Their clash against the defending Super Bowl champions from Baltimore could be key for their road to the playoffs.

I would guess that no one had the Chiefs with perfect record listed to make a push for the playoffs. In week 11 the will face division rival Peyton Manning and his Rocky Mountain express. Will Kansas City’s record still be perfect after this?

The 49er vs. Saints game is also played at week 11. There is not that much room for error for the San Francisco side if they want to make the playoffs again. That is why, a week later, they should definitively beat Washington too, who are now at 2-5. But with quarterback RGIII back healthy again they could spark again. They ended last season with seven wins in a row.

Week 12 will finish with one of the most anticipated game of the year. Maybe only Peyton’s return to Indianapolis could top Broncos vs. Patriots. The best quarterbacks of the modern era going head to head. These clashes were never boring. Besides Wes Welker, Tom Brady’s former favourite weapon, plays now ball with Peyton Manning. That should spice it up.

What do you think will be the best game in the next four weeks?
