Spanish giants Real Madrid are being linked with a ludicrous attempt to sign Luis Suarez this winter. Reports today have suggested Los Blancos will offer Karim Benzema plus cash for the Liverpool star in a deal, which is never going to happen.
The agent of Steaua Bucharest defender Iasmin Latovlevici says it wouldn’t surprise him if Liverpool showed an interest in the player. Roma and Monaco were linked with him but his agent has suggested Liverpool may come into the equation.
“It’s true, that there is interest from Monaco but I was also contacted by the biggest clubs, and no one should be surprised if Liverpool show an interest,” Florin Iacob told Sport.ro.
In other transfer news, Liverpool are being linked with a double swoop this winter for Derby County’s Will Hughes and FC Basel’s Mohamed Salah. Rodgers is thought to be keen on backing up his spending over the summer, as he shelled out nearly £50 million for eight new players.
Liverpool defender Kolo Toure says he wants to prove Arsenal were wrong in letting him go. Toure is expected to start for the side this weekend as Liverpool head to the Emirates Stadium.
“I think it's going to be a great game for me to play. I had some great times there and it was a big part of my life - I want to show on Saturday that Arsenal made a mistake by letting me go,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
Jordan Henderson is another midfielder looking to put in a good performance against the Gunners, suggesting they can use it to send out a real message to their rivals. Henderson has urged his teammates to be careful ahead of the match, suggesting there is still plenty of room for improvement.
Aly Cissokho says he is relishing his new role at left wing back with Liverpool. The Frenchman has come into the side for Jose Enrique and has settled nicely into Brendan Rodgers’ system.
“It's a role I like a lot, I can get up the field a lot, whilst remaining safe in terms of the three behind me. We have three defenders in line as a flat back line, which gives me a lot of freedom,” he told the club’s website.
Liverpool youngster Andre Wisdom says he’s determined to prove himself at Derby County. Wisdom made his debut for his loan side last weekend and was named Derby’s man of the match as they drew 1-1 against Birmingham City.
Liverpool fans have reacted furiously to the news that Redrow founder Steve Morgan invited Hillsborough policeman Sir Norman Bettison to matches. Morgan launched an attempt to take control of Liverpool in 2004 and invited Bettison to watch Wolves, the current side he owns.
