Switzerland coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has made some big comments about Kevin-Prince Boateng’s move to FC Schalke over the summer.
Ottmar Hitzfeld has implied that FC Schalke were a very lucky team to snap up former Tottenham star Kevin-Prince Boateng over the summer.
The dynamic attacking midfielder was linked with a Premier League return but the player’s horror list of injury problems appears to put off the likes of Tottenham from re-signing him.
Hitzfeld has suggested that Schalke must have been aware of his current knee problems when they conducted the medical for the 26-year-old and they were lucky to get him for the tidy sum of just €10 million.
“Rumor has it that injury might have struck, as he has arrived - A transfer to Schalke for € 10 million would not have been possible if Boateng would have been 100 percent fit,” reads a translation of Hitzfeld’s comments in Bild.
His chances of a Premier League return, something he’s been quite open about in desiring, are still very good.
However, football is in a place where the pressure has never been greater and the expectations on players are bigger than they ever have been.
For him to get that dream Premier League return when his current deal with Schalke expires, he needs to be able to prove that he’s over his injury problems and at the moment, that doesn’t look possible.
