Three lapses by Freiburg's Oliver Baumann, who was once on the radar of German international coach Jogi Low, lead to a painful 0-3 defeat.
There is always someone who got it worse then you.
Joe Hart has to remind himself that there is someone out there on the football field, who had a rough day too, or even a rougher one.
In the 2-1 loss to Chelsea last week Fernando Torres scored the winning goal because of miscommunication between keeper and defender. Matija Nastasic’s return pass flew over Hart’s head. Easy pickings for Torres, who scored.
The Guardian commented that this was just another huge mistake by Hart in a long line of other lapses. “Indeed, Torres’s winner was remarkably similar to Nikola Kalinic’s goal for Blackburn at City three years ago, suggesting lessons have not been learned.”
But in Germany, the undisputable land of goalkeepers, Oliver Baumann of Bundesliga’s SC Freiburg had a far worse day then Hart. Three lapses by Baumann, who was once on the radar of German international coach Jogi Low, lead to a painful 0-3 defeat.
However, what The Guardian predicts for Joe Hart is not how the future of Baumann will look like. The 23-year-old keeper from the South of Germany has a lot of potential and a bright future ahead, maybe not in the national team due to heavy competition, but in Bundesliga and even in other European leagues.
Rene Adler, goalkeeper of Baumann’s last weekend opponent, feels for his colleague:
“I think every keeper has days like this. If you make a mistake during the game, you try and put it to the back of your mind. Sometimes you succeed, sometimes you don’t. If you then happen to concede a second goal where you could have done better, you start to lose focus. We were effective today and made the most of the opportunities presented to us.”
But for all the fans of Joe Hart here is a video with all three mistakes by Baumann.
