Olivier Giroud attracted a little derision at the end of last season when he claimed his debut campaign was better than that of Didier Drogba and Thierry Henry.
In the case of Drogba he was actually correct, with Giroud's 17 in all competitions outdoing the Chelsea man's 16.
In the other case he was not, with Thierry Henry scoring 26 - and both players registering 11 assists.
You can't blame Giroud for showing some self-confidence, it's just unfortunate his facts were incorrect.
However come the end of this season, there is every chance he could be able to rightly make such a boast, if he continues his current form.
Henry's second season at Arsenal saw a slight downturn in his goalscoring, with 22 goals scored in all competitions.
So far in Giroud's second campaign, he has scored eight goals already, with November not even yet begun.
This time last year he had just three goals by this point, demonstrating his adjustment to the Premier League and confidence in leading the Arsenal attack.
As the main man, Giroud is a pivotal figure in Arsenal's push to challenge for and win trophies - and team accolades are surely what matters most.
But Giroud is clearly keen to make a name for himself individually, and if he continues his current form, it is difficult to bet against him outdoing Henry's second season at Arsenal, and scoring more than 22 goals.
After that - then it gets difficult, Henry recorded goal tallies of 32, 32, 39, 30, and 33.
Perhaps if Giroud outdoes Henry's second season it will give him the confidence to go on and get figures approaching the club legend at his peak.
How many goals can Giroud score this season? Can he ever be a 30 goal plus a season man?
