Serge Gnabry's rise to prominence at Arsenal has not gone unnoticed in his homeland of Germany.
With fans checking out key international Mesut Ozil, eyes could not help but be drawn to a young winger wearing Arsenal colours.
Gnabry came on in the eighth minute for the injured Mathieu Flamini, and was later taken off in a tactical move after Mikel Arteta's red card with 20 minutes remaining.
During the time he did spend on the pitch, Gnabry made a big impression, winning the early second half penalty which Arteta converted.
He also provided a key pass for a Aaron Ramsey shot which was heading in until saved by Julian Speroni.
German newspaper Bild was one particularly dazzled by his effectiveness, touting his display as a 'Gala performance'.
They write: "Our Under-19 national team player Serge Gnabry (18) was Arsenal's match-winner in the 2-0 win at Crystal Palace.
"Arsenal's next leader is Gnabry and a fan favourite."
The Germans who are just learning of Gnabry's talent must be thrilled to discover such a gem is blossoming outside of their homeland, and is doing so alongside the skills of Ozil.
The teenager is likely to feature from the start for Arsenal against Chelsea in the Capital One Cup in midweek, a perfect opportunity for him to show he can blossom into the sort of leader he is being billed as.
With Theo Walcott soon to return from injury, he will want to make a further good impression and show more evidence as to why he deserves to continue featuring prominently in the first team.
What role do you see Gnabry playing between now and the end of the season?
