Goals from Fernando Torres and Andre Schurrle were enough for Chelsea to claim victory despite Sergio Aguero's strike.
Chelsea have beaten Manchester City 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, as Fernando Torres had a starring role in the crucial top of the table clash.
The first goal came after excellent work by Torres, but a moment before he gave us an example of the Torres we have recently become accustomed to.
He missed an absolute sitter for The Blues, before his excellent burst of pace up against Gael Clichy allowed him to lay the ball on a plate for Andre Schurrle to tuck the ball home for 1-0.
After the break however Sergio Aguero showed his class by pulling Manuel Pellegrini's side level - and it looked like that would be the final result as the game reached its conclusion.
But then came a moment of madness, and another bad moment in goal for England number one stopper Joe Hart.
He raced off his line for a long punt up field and ended up running beyond would have been a simple headed backpass from Matija Nastasic.
Nastasic instead headed the ball over the keeper, and Torres rolled the ball into an empty net.
It is Manchester City's third defeat of the season, and Chelsea now move into second place in the table.
