The Real Madrid defender has conceded that his team have to improve their levels if they are to defeat the Catalan club.

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has tried to tamper expectations ahead of the Clasico this weekend with Barcelona.

Los Blancos face the Catalan side at Camp Nou on Saturday afternoon, but the Spain international has insisted that it will take ‘a big step’ to win in the Catalan capital.

“Real Madrid improves throughout the year, match by match, which is how we have done well. The gap is not very big and, as things are, our fate is in our own hands,” he told reporters.

“On Saturday we have an important match and it would be a big step to win in the Camp Nou, but the matches there are tough and we know that anything can happen.

“With the Clasico, you can’t look at recent results. They will always go out there to give their best in this type of match.

“There are things that we need to keep improving, but it always good to get a win before a Clasico.”
