Match to be played on Sunday 27th October 2013 at 13:30. Venue: Stadium of Light, Sunderland.
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is expected to call upon young defender Paul Dummett for the Tyne-Wear derby against Sunderland on Sunday.
Dummett came off of the bench after the dismissal of Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and scored in the 2-2 draw with Liverpool at St James’ Park last weekend.
And with Yanga-Mbiwa suspended and Fabricio Collocini out injured, Dummett could start against the club’s bitter rivals who sit bottom of the Premier League.
The only thing that stands in the way of a start for the young Welshman is a late fitness test for Steven Taylor who may return from injury and has trained this week.
That could be the only change from last week’s draw against the Merseyside club, where they battled for over half the game with ten men to gain a priceless point.
Yohan Cabaye, who scored the opening goal in the game, is expected to remain in midfield alongside Cheik Tiote and Moussa Sissoko. Loic Remy will have the help of wide men Hatem Ben Arfa and Yoan Gouffran as the Magpies look to maintain their impressive record at the Stadium of Light.
They have only lost one Premier League game in 11 trips to the Black Cats, winning 5 and they’ll also have the experience of Shola Ameobi to call for from the bench. He’s scored seven league goals in Tyne-Wear derbies.
Predicted Newcastle line-up: Krul, Debuchy, Williamson, Dummett, Santon, Cabaye, Tiote, Sissoko, Ben Arfa, Gouffran, Remy.
