German midfielder Lewis Holtby has urged his club to try and move the focus away from Andros Townsend.

Holtby has insisted that Tottenham can protect the winger by trying to take attention off of him.

“I think it's great what the kid has done, it's unbelievable. He's creating so many chances for us and it's good to have him in the squad. But we don't want to put too much attention one player,” Holtby told Goal.com.

Tottenham remain firmly connected with a potential £28 million bid for Aston Villa forward Christian Benteke.

Stories started breaking earlier this week, suggesting Spurs would make a huge bid this winter to try and sign the Belgian.

The reports have showed no signs of slowing down despite the fact Benteke did a u-turn over a transfer request at Villa over the summer, extending his contract at Villa Park.
