Chelsea boosted in Mangala chase, Verona refuse to talk about Jorginho

A round up of the key stories about Chelsea this morning.

Chelsea have been handed a boost in relation to FC Porto star Eliaquim Mangala.

The French defender has been strongly linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge and Chelsea’s chances of getting him may have just improved.

Reports suggest that AS Monaco have pulled out of the race to get their hands on the 22-year-old centre back.

Hellas Verona are refusing to consider the departure of 21-year-old Jorginho.

The player has been strongly linked with moves to the Premier League in recent weeks but his club have slammed the interest stating it’s not time to talk about transfers.

“It’s nice that you speak well about our players, but it’s not the time to talk about the market,” said the club’s sporting director Sean Sogliano.

Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard has suggested if Vincent Kompany isn’t fit to face the Blues this weekend, it’s a massive boost.

Kompany has been out of action with a groin strain, his second of the season, which has kept him from appearing for City for the last three weeks.

“He is really important for them. When he plays they win - and when he doesn’t they lose, often. That proves his importance - I prefer to play with players like that than against players like that,” said Hazard.
