Manchester United boss David Moyes has several potential problems ahead of him and not just the fact the side is way off the pace, as they try to defend their Premier League title.

United have several stars with contracts due to expire next summer; Michael Carrick, Nemanja Vidic, Ryan Giggs, Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra.

Needless to say that if United lost all of those individuals from their playing staff, it would leave a gaping great hole in the side which the team may struggle to fill. asked fans to vote on who they most wanted to sign on at the club, despite the fact there is a good chance that four out of those five will more than likely still be United players, and in Ryan Giggs’ case staff, at the beginning of next season.

The majority of fans that took part said Michael Carrick (42.2%) should be the priority for the club with a quarter of those who took part suggesting United should let all of them leave and start afresh next season.

The views of that quarter are not surprising considering the start United have made to the Premier League season, which has seen them unable to produce the flamboyant and attractive football the side is well known for.

Carrick will reportedly be offered a two-year contract extension on top of his current deal and next in line for the club could be captain Nemanja Vidic, with 23.9% of fans believing the Serbian should be retained when his current deal expires.

Ryan Giggs, Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra gathered under 9% between them, suggesting United fans see Carrick and Vidic as the players United need to tie down on new deals.
