Juventus have already been heavily linked with a swoop for Aston Villa marksman Christian Benteke, but it seems they may have to overcome competition within Serie A if they are to sign him.
While Juve have a wealth of strikers at the club, it is believed that the Bianconeri are on the lookout for a reliable goal scorer to rotate with Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez.
It is expected that the winter transfer window will see one of Mirko Vucinic, Fabio Quagliarella or Sebastian Giovinco leave the club and that could make space for Benteke, who is said have impressed Antonio Conte.
The fee, expected to be around £20m, may also prove a stumbling block but after defeats against Fiorentina and Real Madrid, the case for reinforcements in Turin is growing.
However, reports in Tuttosport suggest that Napoli are looking at Benteke as an option to galvanise their squad for a Scudetto push and take the pressure off Gonzalo Higuain, who has been struggling with repeated injury problems.
The wild card in the race for Benteke are Lazio, who are said to be on the hunt for a replacement for Miroslav Klose in January. The club's current loss of form is likely to have intensified the urgency of the Biancocelesti's transfer plans.
Whether any of the three are able to meet Aston Villa's valuation of the Belgian international remains to be seen.
