To be played on Saturday 26th October 2013 at 15:00. Venue: Carrow Road, Norwich
Norwich and Cardiff meet in an intriguing looking fixture at Carrow Road.
Both teams will see this as a game they can pick up three points in and these will points could be vital come the end of the season in May.
I think this one is too tough to call and both teams will leave with a point which will make both managers pleased considering the run of form both are currently on.
You can see it being quite a cagey game with both teams more worried about losing the game than winning it.
Norwich striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel is a slight doubt for the match against Cardiff at Carrow Road, the Canaries will need his presence up front to cause Cardiff defence problems.
Cardiff don’t have any injury concerns themselves and go into the game with a full compliment of players.
Jonathan Howson is the top scorer for Norwich City with 2 goals, whilst Frazier Campbell and Jordon Mutch lead the charts for Cardiff City with 2 goals each.
Norwich’s home record: Played 4, Won 1, Drawn 1, Lost 2, Goals For 4, Goals Against 6
Cardiff City’s away record: Played 4, Won 1, Drawn 1, Lost 2, Goals For 4, Goals Against 8
Norwich had 44% of the possession in their last match. A 4-1 loss at Arsenal.
Cardiff City had 35% of the possession in their last match. A 4-1 loss at Chelsea
Norwich’s last six games: 2 wins, 1 draw, 4 losses
Cardiff City’s last six games: 1 wins, 2 draws, 3 losses
Five players to watch:
Ricky van Wolfswinkel
If van Wolfswinkel is fit enough to take part in this game then he could play a key role in a potential victory. Norwich need all the help they can get up front so his presence in the lineup will be a big boost for the Canaries
Since joining from West Brom Odemwingie hasn’t really impact Cardiff too much but his manager, Malkay Mackay will be hoping that he can put a good run of form going starting with Norwich away.
Last week John Ruddy didn’t really deserve to be on the wrong end of a 4-1 scoreline but his defence didn’t really help him out too much. He made a string of impressive saves against Arsenal but he still found himself on the losing side. If he can put in a similar performance against Cardiff then Norwich have a great chance of winning.
Cardiff’s free kick expert hasn’t been able to show his abilities yet in the Premier League. There are worries that the step up to the top division are too much of a big jump for him to make. He has appeared for England U21s in the past so he just has to show his qualities to be a success in the top flight.
The young winger has impressed so far this season with his performances and will have a chance to show what he can do again, it would be a great opportunity for him to showcase his talents and even make England manager Roy Hodgson sit up and take notice
