Nobody at Manchester United will remember the club's visit to the Etihad fondly, but Ashley Young with more regret than most.
His atrocious display saw him complete just eight first half passes, frequently gifting the ball to City to the dismay of his manager.
He was substituted early in the second, and subsequently dropped. He had not played a single minute for United since that fateful game on September 22.
More than a month on, he made his return in the final stages of United's narrow 1-0 win over Real Sociedad and was promptly involved in the action.
In his 11 minutes on the pitch he made eight successful passes. That's as many as he did in the first 45 at the Etihad a month ago.
Young had two shots on goal, but both were off target, one wildly so. He also raced to try to get onto the end of a counter attack but was beaten by the goalkeeper to Wayne Rooney's cross.
It was an ideal game in which to ease the winger back into action who in many ways has become a bit of a scapegoat for the City loss, with Rio Ferdinand another who was particularly bad.
Young's comeback certainly sparked United fans on Twitter into action, but did they see any positive signs?
Here's a look at what they had to say...
