Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph says he would love to spend the rest of his career at Villa Park. Delph has been one of the club’s most consistent players so far this season.

“For me it’s just about playing games, staying fit, helping my team-mates and just repaying people back - I’d love to be here for the rest of my career but that’s not up to me,” said the 23-year-old.

Delph’s impact this season has led to the club revealing they have seen a surge in Delph shirt sales. He’s overtaken the likes of Christian Benteke, Gabby Agbonlahor and Andreas Weimann since the start of the season.

In transfer news, Aston Villa will reportedly go up against Tottenham Hotspur to sign 15-year-old AC Milan defender Marco Cestagalli. The youngster has been one of the stand out players for the Milan youth team this season and Villa are apparently keen to add him to their development squad.

Aston Villa star Gabby Agbonlahor has revealed that star striker Christian Benteke lifts the entire side, giving everyone at the club a ‘buzz’.

“To come back and start playing the way he has, picking up his form from last season after the summer. I think he gives the whole team a buzz and the whole stadium a buzz whenever he enters the field,” he told the Birmingham Mail.

Tottenham Hotspur remain strongly linked with a January move for the Belgian, with reports suggesting they will make a £28 million offer. However, Benteke leaving is doubtful after Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert convinced him to stay at the club over the summer, after handing in a transfer request.

Nicklas Helenius has revealed he remains confident that he will get a chance to impress at Aston Villa. The 22-year-old was drafted in over the summer by Paul Lambert but has found first team opportunities hard to come by. Helenius believes he will get better if he’s given the chance to start regularly.

Former Aston Villa goalkeeper Mark Bosnich is one of the people to have hit back at Sir Alex Ferguson this week. Ferguson accused the Australian of being a poor professional and implied he ‘ate like a horse’.

“The bottom line is that I am still the only player that Sir Alex Ferguson ever signed twice during his time at Manchester United,” said Bosnich.
