Arsenal fans furious on Twitter after Chiellini sees red for much less than Lewandowski

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini was sent off yesterday for much less than what Robert Lewandowski did to Laurent Koscielny on Tuesday night.

I think it is fair to say that Arsenal fans had every right to have their noses bent out of shape after watching the Juventus and Real Madrid highlights this evening.

In particular regard to this moment:

That, for those that don’t know, was Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini attempting to brush off Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid - and seemingly, an invisible man entering the field of play and roundhouse kicking the Portuguese in the face with the force of Bruce Lee - that or he took a tumble.

Chiellini barely brushed the forward before he collapsed to the flop in a heap of embarrassment and absolutely no shame.

However the Italian defender was sent off - to the disbelief of quite honestly almost everybody.

Especially when you consider that Robert Lewandowski did not see red for an incident clearly worse than what occurred at the Bernabeu last night at The Emirates on Tuesday night.

Clumsily rather than viscously, the Poland international was attempting to shield the Frenchman off in an aerial duel, but instead plunged his right arm into the centre backs face - causing uproar around the stadium.

Arsene Wenger thought it was red, Jurgen Klopp disagreed - but if Chiellini’s is red, then Lewandowski’s has to be.

Personally I don’t believe that either were red cards. Neither were great, but neither were deliberate. But I can tell you this with almost 100% certainty. If Koscielny had gone down like he had just been shot, like Ronaldo did, then the Polish striker might have seen red.

What did you make of the two incidents?
