Could Arsenal use their financial power to sign Europe's hottest striker?
Oliver Giroud has been in excellent form this season with seven goals for Arsenal so far, but over in Spain there is a marksman even more prolific.
Diego Costa is on fire for Atletico Madrid at present, scoring 12 goals in 12 games, causing an international row between Spain and Brazil who both want the eligible striker to play for them at next year's World Cup.
Chelsea were linked with signing him by The Mirror on Tuesday, but reports from Spain claim there are more Premier League sides interested in his services.
Liverpool were touted as a destination for him in the summer transfer window and they remain keen, but Spanish newspaper AS report Arsenal are now interested in Diego Costa.
However the report should be taken with a note of caution as the source is transfer columnist 'Manolete', whose previous claims include David de Gea to Chelsea.
There are though reasons why Diego Costa and Arsenal would be an excellent fit. The striker is extremely similar in style to Luis Suarez, who Arsene Wenger intensely pursued during the summer transfer window.
Costa's form means he will be on every club's radar, with Atletico reported to be open to offers from £35 million upwards.
He is a very different type of forward to Olivier Giroud, and a far better bet than the linked Karim Benzema who has been described as too similar to effectively play together. Costa can drift out wide in a similar way to Lukas Podolski and may be better suited to Wenger's system than Benzema.
Chelsea's interest is an obvious threat, but if Arsenal can beat them to him then their financial might will truly be demonstrated.
This remains one to watch rather than one to bank on, but if it did come off, it could just be a transfer which brings Arsenal the title.
Should Arsenal go for Costa? Could it happen?
