Why win over Arsenal points to Dortmund winning the Champions League

Having won in London against Arsenal, superstition points to Borussia Dortmund winning the Champions League.

Borussia Dortmund have reason to feel positive, for the omens could be on their side.

For the past has shown when they win in England, it proves to be a successful year for them in Europe.

Back in 1965/66, Dortmund visited the home of West Ham United, beating a side containing the great Bobby Moore 2-1 in the Cup Winners Cup semi-final.

They went onto win the competition, beating Liverpool in the final hosted in Glasgow.

You can check out their winning goal below:

Exhibit two: 1997.

Dortmund head to Old Trafford for the Champions League semi-final second leg, where they are protecting a valuable 1-0 home advantage. A memorable backs to the wall performance sees the German side grind out a dogged win, frustrating an Eric Cantona inspired United side.

They would go onto win the final against Juventus, with youngster Lars Ricken scoring a memorable goal.

Now... can lightening strike a third time?

Dortmund's savvy display at the Emirates showed Europe they are one of the teams to take seriously this season, as if their run to the final last time out had not confirmed it already.

You would be hard pushed to find a pundit who rated any English team of having a better chance of winning the Champions League than Jurgen Klopp's side.

This season may end up being their best chance to win the trophy, with Robert Lewandowski all but confirmed to leave at the end of the season.

What price him riding off into the sunset with a winner's medal around his neck?

Do you believe Dortmund will win the Champions League?
