Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon should start his first game since returning from a foot injury against Moldovan outfit Sheriff Tiraspol in Group K of the Europa League.
Lennon played 25 minutes of Spurs’ 2-0 Premier League win at Aston Villa on Sunday after replacing Gylfi Sigurdsson, but with manager Andre Villas Boas looking to rest players then it’ll be no surprise to see the England international back in the starting line-up.
Villas Boas has left Kyle Walker, Paulinho and last week’s England hero Andros Townsend at home and is still without the injured trio of Etienne Capoue, Younes Kaboul and Danny Rose.
Another man who could start is forgotten striker Emmanuel Adebayor. The former Arsenal front man had been training with the reserves in the summer and hasn’t featured this campaign but has travelled with the squad. The likelihood is that he’ll have to settle for a place on the bench though alongside first choice striker Roberto Soldado. Jermain Defoe should start with Lennon and club record signing Erik Lamela supporting him from the wings.
Spurs currently sit top of their group and a win in Moldova will see them maintain their 100% record in the competition this season.
Predicted Spurs line-up: Lloris, Naughton, Chiriches, Dawson, Fryers, Sandro, Dembele, Holtby, Lennon, Lamela, Defoe
