Spurs travel to Moldova tomorrow night for their Europa League group match with Sheriff Tiraspol and their manager Veaceslav Rusnac has said his side will play without any fear.
Rusnac said: ‘We are looking forward towards this match. Everyone is looking forward to the game, including our players, coaching staff and management. Tomorrow we play against one of the best teams in Europe, who occupy a leading position in one of the best championships in Europe.
‘We understand that they are a team of a high European level and we understand that they are favourites not only in our group but in the whole tournament.’
Former midfielders Allan Nielsen and Steffen Freund have both spoken of the difficulty of the task that faces Spurs in Moldova.
Nielsen told the club’s website: ‘Spurs are going away on Thursday to a difficult country to play in. You’ve got to go there, be professional, do the jobs, get the points and get back home again. That is what you are up against.’
Freund said: ‘Sheriff have been one of the top teams for a long time. I can remember that we drew 0-0 when we went before [to play Zimbru]. It wasn’t a good game, we couldn’t create a lot of chances, but they couldn’t either.’
