A round up of this morning’s news connected to Chelsea.
The Daily Mirror has linked Chelsea with a potential £35 million move for Diego Costa.
The Atletico Madrid forward is currently at the heart of a tug of war between Brazil and Spain over his international allegiance.
The Mirror suggests that Jose Mourinho is keen to add a big name striker to his squad this January and suggests the Chelsea boss has a good chance of being backed by Roman Abramovich.
Jose Mourinho insists he respects and trusts striker Fernando Torres.
The striker bagged a brace as Chelsea beat FC Schalke 3-0 away from home in the Champions League to go top of their group.
“Fernando [Torres] played very well today. He's a hard worker. He's not the kind of guy to hide behind the fee that Chelsea paid for him. Even when he's not performing very well, he always maintains his professionalism - He's a player I respect and trust,” said Mourinho after the game.
Mourinho has also confirmed that he will not appeal against an improper conduct charge from the FA.
Mourinho was sent off during the win against Cardiff City last weekend and is fined £8,000.
“What he [the referee] wrote is exactly what happened and is exactly why I didn’t understand why I went to the stands, and it is exactly why the punishment is justified and the other thing is not to be suspended from the next match,” said Mourinho.
