Carlos Vela has truly blossomed since moving from Arsenal to Real Sociedad.
There was never a question over his talent, but his application of it and a lack of a run in the side had deemed him surplus to requirements at the club.
He left to join Real Sociedad, helping fire them into a surprise fourth place La Liga finish, qualifying for the Champions League, scoring 18 goals and providing 14 assists along the way/.
On Wednesday night he was picked out by Manchester United boss David Moyes before the Red Devils faced the Spaniards as a key dangerman, and was himself interviewed by SkySports.
In a one-on-one interview with Geoff Shreeves, the Mexican openly discussed the release clause.
"Yes they (Arsenal) have the option.
"Every summer they can take the buy option.
"But for the moment it is difficult.
"They are goo now... I am good now.. I don't think it is the best moment to go back to Arsenal."
Asked by Shreeves, 'maybe one day?' Vela coyly and simply replied: "Maybe."
There is potential this could one day no longer be a factor however. With Vela also linked to Dortmund, reports in Spain over the weekend suggested Sociedad wanted to offer Vela an improved deal, which would also cancel out his buy-back clause.
If Arsenal do decide they want him, next summer may be their last opportunity.
Would you take Vela back and play him on the wing?
