FC Porto defender Danilo says he would welcome a switch to the Premier League.
Who said the Premier League was second or third fiddle to La Liga and the Bundesliga?
Certainly not Danilo of FC Porto, who has stated his desire is to play in the Premier League.
The defender has given an interview to Globoesporte in Brazil where he has outlined his ambitions.
"FC Porto recognizes that I would follow in the footsteps of idol Gilberto Silva, who represented many years at Arsenal, and one day play in the Premier League. It's a dream. A football fast, very tough and tactically rigorous. But I still want to evolve a bit more before taking this step."
There is one simple reason he holds Gilberto as an idol; both played for the same youth team - at different times - in Brazil, America Mineiro.
Danilo is rated at £10 million and has been an ever present from right-back this season, providing two assists.
If the right-back wanted to really follow Gilberto Silva, a member of Arsenal's Invincibles side, he could hope his name ends up on the club's radar when searching for replacement for Bacary Sagna should he depart.
A Brazilian international of six caps, Danilo goes onto continue hinting however that a move could be too soon.
"I'm going into the third season, I am still 22 years old and I'm happy here. I can still win a couple more championships with FC Porto make for a cool story then yes, (I would) consider leaving."
Aiming for a happy ending is nice, but Danilo is surely kidding if he feels he would turn down a mega-move to the Premier League.

A good Sagna replacement option?
