Manuel Pellegrini is reportedly looking to add another Citizen at Manchester City, one rivals United allowed to get away…
A former nemesis of Manchester United at the turn of the millennium and into the mid-noughties when at Arsenal - Patrick Vieira, currently heading Manchester City's developmental unit - may once again frustrate the top brass at Old Trafford as, according to reports, a former United prodigy the club allowed to get away is one of Eastlands top targets in the upcoming winter window market.
According to The Mirror, City are interested in making a £40m offer for the breakout midfielder at Juventus, Paul Pogba, who, in his first season in Serie A, helped the Old Lady to a Scudetto while attracting the attention of Europe's elite clubs.
Pogba still has two years remaining on his contract at the Turin outfit but it is believed that if Juventus and City agreed a fee that allowed the latter to negotiate personal terms with the player, then the key to a deal would be Vieira himself, who Pogba has long cited as one of his idols when beginning his own footballing education.
At just 20-years-old, Pogba is regarded to be one of world soccer's hottest properties with a lengthy upside despite his high valuation. The France international is strong in duels, a robust and physical athlete who is a master of long shots on goal, through balls, passing, dribbling and is well-groomed in the art of both on and off the floor football.
An academy graduate at Le Havre, Pogba joined United in 2009, only to leave in 2012. Should he depart Juve to join City, this would rub further salt into Old Trafford's wounds of losing such a skilled footballer with a vast potential to their neighbour.
