With Manchester United struggling to hit top form so far under David Moyes, could they look to bring in new attacking firepower?
News emanating out of Old Trafford is that David Moyes will listen to offers for struggling winger Ashley Young, whilst Roberto Mancini remains interested in Antonio Valencia after becoming Galatasaray manager, prompting speculation of United being interested in signing a wide man in the January transfer window.
Youngster Wilfried Zaha appears set to leave the club on loan, but Adnan Januzaj's emergence and Nani's reinstatement to the team have provided a timely boost, yet Moyes could still look to bring in a winger as he looks to turn around United's fortunes, following a disappointing start to the season.
Reports last week speculated that the Chilean was a £22m target for Moyes, but with Sanchez's improved form under new manager Gerardo Martino, Barcelona may choose to keep hold of the former Udinese man. Sanchez was a target for United two years ago, but chose to move to Spain and turned down rivals Manchester City in the process. The addition of Neymar threatened to push Sanchez out of the door after a couple of underwhelming seasons at the Camp Nou, and with Cristian Tello developing and Gerard Deulofeu set to return next season, Barca could look to sell Sanchez in order to raise funds for a defender.
Despite signing a new deal with Atletico Madrid in September, Turkish press remain insistent that Arsenal and Liverpool are battling for the signature of the 26 year old, and with a rumoured €20m release clause inserted into the deal, Turan could be had for a relative bargain. With 20 assists in the previous two seasons and five already this term, Turan has great quality on the flanks and would supply the ammunition for Robin van Persie.
With just four starts under Laurent Blanc this season, Lucas is reportedly looking to leave France in order to secure his place in Brazil's World Cup squad. Former club Sao Paulo are interested in taking the 21 year old back on loan, but a permanent deal could be appealing. United held an interest in Lucas last summer, and would now be able to sign the Brazilian for a much smaller price than the €45m fee paid by Paris Saint-Germain last summer.
Angel di Maria
Argentine di Maria has been impressive for Real Madrid, which has helped cushion the blow of Gareth Bale's injury problems, and is now making Bale's £86m move look like even more of an expensive luxury. Di Maria was strongly linked with a move to Arsenal before deadline day, and local media reported that United held an interest in the 25 year old. With Madrid now looking to raise funds in order to buy a striker – possibly Luis Suarez – di Maria could be available come January, and United would be foolish to pass him up.
Another long term United target, Gaitan was once again linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer, though the Argentine's agent claimed that hadn't had contact with United. Of the five listed targets here, Gaitan would likely be the last resort, yet would still command a fee in excess of £25m. Tottenham Hotspur have now been linked with a move for Gaitan, who has double figures in assists since moving from Boca Juniors to replace Angel di Maria in Portugal.
Would you like any of these to come in?
