Benfica want to offer Ivan Cavaleiro a new deal.
Manchester United's interest in one of Benfica's 'B' players has served to worry the Portuguese club.
Ivan Cavaleiro is tipped as the club's next sensational winger, scoring seven goals in 10 games for the B side.
He has also been prolific for Portugal's under-21 side, and has recently been called up to play with the first team.
Now it is reported by A Bola that United's interest is pushing Benfica to offer Cavaleiro a new deal.
Former coach of Benfica B, Norton de Matos said:
"Benfica are willing to begin negotiations to renew a contract with the young player, it's a sign of confidence from the club and also protection because these young players playing in a team like Benfica will always have the eyes of Europe."
There is also likely to be a financial reason they want to do so too as well as a sporting one.
The release clause in Cavaleiro's present contract is likely a small one. If they can get him to sign a new deal, it's likely the new clause will be in excess of €20 million.
United may have to move quickly if they want to secure the youngster.
