Manchester United are brave but Nani is perhaps even braver, as the winger invites questions onto himself as United endure one of their worst ever starts to a season.
He’s shown glimpses of the ample potential we all know he has, but he’s not been able to keep the likes of Adnan Januzaj and Ashley Young out of the side, with Antonio Valencia the only winger showing any sort of consistency at Old Trafford.
That’s not even mentioning youngster Wilfried Zaha, who the club signed in a £12 million deal from Crystal Palace, a player who can’t get anywhere near the first eleven at United at the moment.
His only goal so far this season has come for his country, with a single strike for Portugal in their World Cup qualification campaign.
Nani has made three starts in the Premier League this season, with one appearance off the bench. He’s yet to make an appearance in the Champions League and his only other start for his club came in the League Cup.
He can draw confidence from the fact the club offered him a new deal over the summer, which would have been a pointless gesture if United were thinking of getting rid of him.
He remains one of the only players at the club, capable of producing that match winning strike, something special to turn a tight game on its head. It’s simply a case of getting a chance to prove that consistency.
Give what he’s been up against so far this season, it was always going to be a popular question and answer session to try and get an insight into Nani’s thinking at the moment and his expectations over the rest of the season.
Here is a selection of the best questions that were put to the Manchester United star.
