As the defence of their Premier League crown continues to falter, Manchester United will be hoping Wednesday’s Champions League match against Real Sociedad can offer some welcome relief.
Given the Spaniards’ early season form, David Moyes would have felt confident welcoming the La Liga side to Old Trafford. But Jagoba Arrasate’s side chose the weekend to finally record their first league win since the opening week of the season.
The draw specialists are suddenly winning again, and will travel to Manchester knowing the Theatre of Dreams is currently lacking some sparkle.
Despite conceding a late equaliser in their last group match against Shakhtar Donetsk, United will be happy with their four points to date. And three more this week should see them needing just one more win to ensure qualification.
So who will Moyes task with doing the job?
Although Adnan Januzaj is now eligible for United’s Champions League squad I have a feeling he may be on the bench at best, with Danny Welbeck or Shinji Kagawa stepping in. And after missing Saturday’s match against Southampton, it would be a major surprise if one or both of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic did not return.
Here is how I expect United to line up on Wednesday evening:
Do you agree with the starting XI above? Would you continue with Januzaj or go for a different formation? Tell us what you think...
