England Under 21-Captain set to join Derby on loan.
Steve McClaren’s men are set to receive a timely and considerable boost to their defensive worries with England under 21 captain Andre Wisdom ready to sign on loan.
Derby County’s defensive worries took another knock on Saturday when they were forced into an early substitution for on loan centre back Zak Whitbread. He joins the list of injured centre backs at the club with Shaun Barker and Mark O’Brien who also won’t be fit for another few months at least.
The move into the loan market was almost inevitable, however, the calibre of player coming in wasn’t.
Andre Wisdom who is the official England under 21 captain, has a great future ahead of him. Already linked with several loan moves away from the club this year and was close to a deadline day move to promotion favourites Wigan, only to have the deal scuppered by injury. He will bring a lot of quality to a Derby side that is renowned for their impressive attacking football that’s often let down by their defensive fragilities.
The move for Wisdom will be a good for all parties involved with Liverpool potentially becoming the biggest winner in January.
The highly coveted midfield maestro Will Hughes again made headlines on Saturday for producing a worthy match-winning pass to Conor Sammon who scored the late winner. He has been without question the most documented young footballer in the Championship this season which has linked him to possible moves like Barcelona, Manchester United and Manchester City.
There is no question that Hughes will have his eyes set on becoming a Liverpool legend in the future as he has made no secret of his admiration of his boyhood club. He has also previously made digs at other clubs supposedly interested in signing him. Last season he was found mocking Manchester United after their Champions League heart-ache on twitter. The same tweets have done enough to put a vast majority of Manchester United fans off signing the talented youngster, but no-doubt aided Liverpool in pursuing their interest.
Liverpool sending Wisdom to Derby could become a master-stoke for the Merseyside club. Whilst it may not guarantee anything initially building up relations with a club when trying to sign a player is always going to stand you in good stead. Hughes will have already made up his mind as everyone wants to play for their boyhood team. It’s Derby that are the decision makers of this particular deal and Liverpool have played it smartly sending out one of their most talented young players.
Derby fans at the minute will be delighted with the arrival of Andre Wisdom and will possibly make a call to Manchester United and Barcelona to see if they want to add a sweetener to the deal too.
