All the latest news and views from Stamford Bridge.
An in-form Chelsea team put Cardiff City to slaughter at the weekend thanks to a 4-1 scoreline that did not flatter the Stamford Bridge hosts.
There was a defensive error early in the game, that was capitalised on by Jordon Mutch who eased the visitors ahead after just ten minutes, however, that was overturned by Eden Hazard's leveller, Samuel Eto'o's vital goal two thirds into the game, prior to a third from Oscar and a final fourth from Hazard.
The victory ensures Chelsea leapfrog Liverpool into second place, by virtue of a healthier goal difference and a busy fixture list now sees Jose Mourinho's Blues take on Bundesliga representative Schalke in the Champions League midweek.
Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness labelled the Schalke examination as one Chelsea must not lose, while also exclaiming that it is essential that Mourinho does not play David Luiz… he explains more here.
Over the past few weeks there have been more and more transfer rumours spreading. Eventually, the calendar year will just be one bonkers period where members of the press tap away at keyboards frantically drumming up the next sensational piece of speculation.
Wesley Sneijder to Chelsea is surely one of those either filtered to someone from the media by a representative of Sneijder in the hope it raises his client's profile. Chelsea's interest in the player, when they can brag a roster with some of the best playmakers in the Premier League, must surely be non-existent.
Regardless, the rumour is spreading and was picked up by Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal: 'I know Chelsea and Jose Mourinho want Sneijder in the winter market.'
Such a transfer, though, has been downplayed by the man himself on Lig TV: 'Everywhere Jose Mourinho goes they make some rumours about me following. Whatever club I'm at I will give 100 per cent, I love this club and I am not even thinking of leaving. It's just rumours and you will see come January I will be linked with Chelsea again but I am staying here.
'Every transfer market I am apparently moving to one club or another but these are just rumours, I am happy and I like life here.'
The club are in the market for players, however, and allegedly have a £50m transfer fund to play with. Linked players include Marseille midfielder Giannelli Imbula and Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala.
And finally, the moment your heart races when you realise Mourinho has been banished from the touchline and ordered to sit next to you in the stands, captured perfectly, by 17-year-old student Sean Buxton…
