Tottenham weekend round-up: Villa win, 2014 stadium build and Lloris happy

All the latest news from White Hart Lane over the past few days.

Tottenham Hotspur have put the defeat to West Ham in their last Premier League outing well and truly in the past, after winning comfortably at Villa Park.

Andre Villas-Boas’ men won comfortably, with a stunning performance from Andros Townsend catching the eye once again.

He scored, although not from a shot - as his curling cross evaded everyone.

Roberto Soldado bagged the other goal to secure all three points, in a game that saw the linesman hit by a flare from the away support.

Tottenham are set to begin building their new stadium in the new year. Ground is set to be broken on the project in the middle of 2014. The build has been delayed on numerous occasions, and recently saw new architects bought in.

The £400 million deal is set to be funded by a sponsorship naming rights deal.

Hugo Lloris has spoken of his happiness at playing a ‘sweeper keeper’ role. The French international has a growing reputation as the fastest goalkeeper in the world, and he has been seen darting off his line to make decisive clearances on multiple occasions already this season:

"Since my professional debut I've always had a risky game. I try to control my box. I always think the goalkeeper has to be the chief of the box, it's his area and he has to defend it. It's true that with Spurs maybe I have to control the box and just outside as well but I don't have a problem with that. You need to be active and read the game to make decisions. You have to be aware and close to your central defenders, and have good communication all the time. We work every day in training to improve in that system."

Finally, and Lazio midfielder Hernanes could be on his way to London in January. The Brazilian international is reportedly set to request a move away from the Italian capital this winter, but Atletico Madrid and Arsenal are also said to be keen.
