A select round-up of morning news relating to Manchester United...
All the good work Manchester United have done to repair the reported fractured relationship between Wayne Rooney and the club could all be undone with the release of Sir Alex Ferguson’s autobiography next week.
The Daily Mail reports that the book will repeat Ferguson’s claims that the England striker asked to leave Old Trafford at the end of last season. And they feel this could scupper any chance David Moyes has of convincing Rooney to sign a new long-term deal.
Of course it is all currently hearsay. But it is clear that if claims Rooney has already refuted are repeated, it will be interesting to see if his current good form is affected and what it means for his United future.
In other news, Wilfried Zaha could lose his place in the England under-21s after new boss Gareth Southgate was reportedly unimpressed by the United winger’s attitude.
Zaha had an altercation with former United starlet Ravel Morrison last week. But the Mirror claims it is Zaha’s attitude to playing for the under-21s in general that could see him dropped in the future.
And finally, Cristiano Ronaldo may have only just signed a new five-year deal at Real Madrid, but that has not stopped the Sun claiming he is learning French in preparation for a summer switch to PSG.
Stranger things have happened. Although in truth this one seems more rumour than reality.
