Goals from Eden Hazard (2), Samuel Eto'o and Oscar were enough for victory, despite Jordon Mutch giving Cardiff City a shock lead.
A massive blunder from David Luiz gave Cardiff City the chance to take the lead in the first half, which was duly taken by Jordon Mutch, racing through and dinking the ball over Petr Cech to give the promoted side a shock lead.
But it was another calamity moment that pulled Chelsea level. Cardiff stopper David Marshall was bouncing the ball when Samuel Eto’o toe poked the ball away from him and Eden Hazard tapped in the leveller.
However there is controversy, as technically that should be a foul according to FIFA rules.
In the end however Chelsea soon put Cardiff to bed. Eto’o finally scored for the club, putting the finishing touch to an excellent move.
Then Jose Mourinho, who had to watch the remainder of the game from the stands after getting on the wrong side of Anthony Taylor, saw his side put The Bluebirds to the sword.
Oscar continued his form to make it 3-1 while Hazard completed a return to form with his second, securing a 4-1 victory for Chelsea at The Bridge.
