Tottenham have been linked with a move for Nicolas Gaitan.
Big spenders Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to commit even more cash in January, if reports are to be believed.
Portuguese newspaper A Bola claim the club are interested in Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan.
"Tottenham, coached by Portuguese André Villas Boas, looks interested again in Nicolás Gaitán, Argentine midfielder of Benfica... A possibility of Gaitán, 25, leave the Stadium of Light to represent a team in England is old but still very much alive, even if the interest of Manchester United has waned with the departure of Alex Ferguson. In January, Tottenham can move to action."
Gaitan is a representative of super-agent Jorge Mendes, who represents Cristiano Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho.
The 25-year-old is a left-winger who would provide competition for and ease pressure on Nacer Chadli on the left of attack in the void left by world record departure Gareth Bale.
Gaitan, valued at €18 million, has been the subject of interest from Manchester United for two seasons but the Red Devils have never followed up on any possible enquiries.
He has six caps for Argentina, but the last of these came back in 2011. A potential two-pronged attack with compatriot Erik Lamela could be mouthwatering, and help his international prospects.
Gaitan however has suffered a slow start to the season, with no goals or assists in his opening six appearances.
Last season he scored five goals and provided 12 assists, with four goals and 17 assists the previous campaign.
