David Moyes believes Wayne Rooney is his ‘main man’ and praised the striker’s recent form for club and country with England.
"I think he's at the age in his career where he would be one of the main players and he's certainly a main player for Manchester United and England," said the boss.
"He takes responsibility, scores the goals that are required and he's done that from a young age. The age he is now, he's got that maturity and it shows in how he plays and the condition he is in with the way he is playing for club and country.”
In team news, Tom Cleverley’s fitness will need to be assessed to monitor his recovery from a calf injury that saw him withdrawn from international duty with England.
However, Adnan Januzaj is expected to feature after his sensational brace on his starting debut against Sunderland.
Adnan Januzaj has ‘hinted’ he will commit to United for his future by asserting he wants to stay and give 100 per cent for the Red Devils.
“I am happy at Manchester United and I want to commit myself 100 per cent in every game to do my best,” explained the 18-year-old.
“I want to help Manchester United win the Premier League and become the best player in the world.”
In transfer news, winger Nani is linked with a move to Galatasaray where he could join to link up with former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini. The Independent suggests Nani could be involved in a swap deal seeing Wesley Sneijder move the other way.
United are also linked with midfielder Remy Cabella whom The Express claims the Red Devils could sign from Montpellier for £15 million in January.
In other news, United are ‘considering’ adding a standing area to Old Trafford – the club will examine whether a ‘safe-standing’ area would improve the atmosphere and the campaign for the champions.
