Liverpool and Arsenal linked with star who signed new deal with 'family' last month

Arda Tuan has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Liverpool in Turkey today. But he signed a new deal with Atletico Madrid last month.

There is no doubt that Atletico Madrid attacker Arda Turan has been in great form for Los Colchoneros over the past couple of seasons.

The creative midfielder has been in form recently which saw him linked with a move away from the Vicente Calderon in the summer.

But Atletico, who are currently flying high in La Liga, moved fast to secure him to a new deal back in September.

But that has not stopped reports in Turkey today suggesting that the player is to make a move to the Premier League.

Many Turkish sources report today that Liverpool and Arsenal are ready to make a move for the player in January - even if neither side particulary need the 26-year-old.

And Turan does have a Premier League ambition, even speaking after the signing of his new deal about a move to England, with his agent stating:

“Arsenal and Liverpool? A destination in the Premier League would be to the liking of the player and I can confirm there are clubs interested, like the two mentioned,”

But he signed a new deal until 2017 just last month, which also saw his release clause reportedly double from the original €24 million that had many teams vulturing.

And Turan did not seem like a man ready to leave with his comments after the deal was confirmed, saying:

“I feel very happy to have extended my contract with Atletico. After two years with the Atletico shirt, I feel like part of the family, which is this club. ‘’

So while he may have an ambition to one day play in the Premier League, it would be very odd to see him make the move to England just months after stating that Atletico were his ‘family’.

Carragher gains Arsenal fans: 'Top 4? Spurs will miss out' - is he right?

Plus, Atletico are currently joint top of La Liga with Barcelona, and the idea of him jumping ship right now, it is seemingly nonsensical.

So while you might just want to see Turan at Anfield or The Emirates - it certainly won’t be anytime soon.
