Tottenham to offer Paulinho new contract, PSG star could be on his way to White Hart Lane

A round up of the key news stories about Tottenham Hotspur this morning.

Tottenham will offer Brazilian midfielder Paulinho an improved contract to fend off apparent interest from Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants are thought to be keeping an eye on Paulinho’s progress at Spurs despite him only moving to the club over the summer.

His contract currently expires in the summer of 2017 and a new deal could mean an improved financial offer and an extension to 2018.

Tottenham are reportedly considering a January move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi.

The striker has fallen down the pecking order at PSG this season and White Hart Lane could be a popular destination for him considering Tottenham’s need for striker reinforcements.

Reports suggest he’d cost in the region of £15 million if the club puts a formal offer together this winter.

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has played down the recent success of Tottenham’s Andros Townsend.

Spurs go up against Villa this weekend and Lambert has suggested the youngster is nowhere near as good as former Spurs star Gareth Bale.

“You can’t jump on the bandwagon. It’s only two games. Gareth Bale did it over a number of years, that’s too much pressure to say Townsend is the new Bale,” said Lambert.
