While the move can only be made official when the winter window market opens for trading, Valencia have explained that the defender - a 6ft 3in, 27-year-old with 74 club appearances behind him in all competitions since 2011- Rami has permission to train with AC Milan until the winter window market opens for trading.
Yesterday, the club confirmed: 'With the express permission of Valencia, Adil Rami [is subject to] a physical test at AC Milan [ahead of] the transfer of French international centre back.'
Outspoken Rami has been frozen out of first-team affairs, suspended without pay, since questioning the leadership ability of manager Miroslav Djukic on radio and doubting the direction of the club following the sales of: '[David] Albelda, [Roberto] Soldado and Tino [Costa]. Now in the locker room we only have a bunch of players who don't look at you in the face.'
A Valencia statement at the time acknowledged Rami's regret over the incident: 'Regardless of the punishment, we have agreed to work together to find a satisfactory solution for both parties.'
That solution is to the benefit of Milan, who have the option to purchase the player on a permanent basis after assessing his performances while on loan.
