Valencia have ratified a temporary deal which will see France international Rami join AC Milan in January.

A summer-long target for two Premier League clubs, Adil Rami is set to join AC Milan on a loan basis from January until the end of the season, as confirmed by his parent club Valencia.

While the move can only be made official when the winter window market opens for trading, Valencia have explained that the defender - a 6ft 3in, 27-year-old with 74 club appearances behind him in all competitions since 2011- Rami has permission to train with AC Milan until the winter window market opens for trading.

Yesterday, the club confirmed: 'With the express permission of Valencia, Adil Rami [is subject to] a physical test at AC Milan [ahead of] the transfer of French international centre back.'

Outspoken Rami has been frozen out of first-team affairs, suspended without pay, since questioning the leadership ability of manager Miroslav Djukic on radio and doubting the direction of the club following the sales of: '[David] Albelda, [Roberto] Soldado and Tino [Costa]. Now in the locker room we only have a bunch of players who don't look at you in the face.'

A Valencia statement at the time acknowledged Rami's regret over the incident: 'Regardless of the punishment, we have agreed to work together to find a satisfactory solution for both parties.'

That solution is to the benefit of Milan, who have the option to purchase the player on a permanent basis after assessing his performances while on loan.
