News, views and rumours relating to Chelsea FC in the past 24 hours.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho revealed he wants players ‘made in Chelsea', hailing the impact and importance of the Blues’ homegrown players in an interview The Guardian.

"I like that local core, not just in England but when I've worked in Portugal, Spain and Italy," said Mourinho.

"You owe some respect to the country and the national team, so to give some options for them is important.”

"I like that loyalty. I also like the fact the foreign players arrive and find a spine in place, a nucleus of local players who can tell them and explain to them where they are, how things work here, the way they have to behave, and even the way they have to play in this league,” he added.

Meanwhile, Andre Schurrle has ‘grown’ since moving to Stamford Bridge – the Germany boss Joachim Low believes the Blues’ summer signing has gotten strong for his country as a result of his transfer from Bayer Leverkusen.

"I told him recently that last year I wasn't very happy with his development," Low told German football website www.dfb.de

"But now, in some games with us and in England, he has shown again what he can do. He is dynamic, works back well and has a strong finish.”

In team news, the Blues are ‘sweating’ over the fitness of key players Ashley Cole and Fernando Torres ahead of their ‘crunch’ clash against Cardiff on Saturday, according to The Express.

In transfer news, the Blues are linked with FC Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala.

Meanwhile, Dutch national team coach Louis Van Gaal has advised Wesley Sneijder to join Chelsea and ‘forget about’ Manchester United.

He told talkSPORT: "I know Chelsea and Jose Mourinho want Sneijder.”

"In my opinion, if possible Sneijder should leave Galatasaray and join Chelsea.”

Elsewhere, Nemanja Matic confirmed his interest in –re-joining Chelsea in January after the midfielder joined Benfica in 2011.

“I would probably like to stay another year with Benfica, but if somebody like Mourinho wanted to bring me back to London, it would be difficult to turn down,” said Matic.

“It would be a great chance to prove that I can play in the Premier League.”

The Express also claim Chelsea are ‘scouting’ Jackson Martinez and Burak Yilmaz of Porto and Galatasaray respectively.
